After working through site compliance for 300 West Laneway, the carpark management requirements — a mix of public, leased and private parking — sit outside what we can deliver as a community-run event. Rather than push ahead under-resourced, we're pausing the event.
The concept is strong and the interest from food trucks, retailers and Hastings District Council has been real. It just needs a delivery model with more authority over the site than we can bring. We've flagged this to council and left the door open for them to lead, or for a larger event company to pick it up.
If and when it's revived, we'll make sure everyone hears about it. In the meantime — thanks for your interest and patience through the planning.
The concept below is preserved as a record of what was being put together — a monthly food truck event in 300 West Laneway, with hat deals across the trucks and retailers staying open late. If a future organiser picks it up, this is the playbook they have to start from.
